Skype doesn't seem to log in....

Dennis Carr-2
Running Pidgin 2.12.0 (libpurple 2.12.0) on Debian stretch (testing).
(Note, Stretch is frozen, but not yet declared stable.)

Just added the Skype plugin, but I'm not getting a password prompt - as
such, it seems to be struggling to log in.  Doesn't seem to be anything
in the documentation on how to get around this.

In a nutshell... help? =D

Thanks,
-Dennis Carr

Usually protocol plugins have textboxes to set login/password in their account configuration. Btw, you didn't say which one skype plugin you use, but at least in skypeweb plugin which I use it's in the account settings.

Hi there,

If you're not seeing the Password entry field in the account settings then you're using the old skype4pidgin plugin (which needs Skype running) instead of the newer skypeweb plugin (which does not).

Cheers,
Eion

Looks like that's it, and I'm not seeing skypeweb in the distribution
archives.  In fact, it hasn't even left RFP:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=818404

Found your github, though, Eion. Any place I can go grab the tarball?

Your link has the link to build instructions https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/tree/master/skypeweb#building-deb-package-for-debianubuntumint

In particular, the instructions mention obtaining the source code with "git clone git://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin.git && cd skype4pidgin/skypeweb". (that said, I'm not sure, perhaps it's enough to just do "git clone https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/tree/master/skypeweb")
